From humble beginnings during the early years of Detroit’s manufacturing boom, our hard work and unparalleled service have always been the driving force behind everything we do.
1930’s – 1960’s: Crafting Our Legacy
When All-Bright Mirror Works was founded in the 1930s in Detroit, all of our work was done by hand. With a production team consisting of a single glass cutter and two upright belt sanders, our old school craftsmanship that would define our company’s reputation.
Early successes were driven by innovations in silvering techniques, leading to the creation of our first in-house brand Antiqua, positioning Glass & Mirror Craft as the only company in the Metro Detroit area offering custom-made tinted mirrors.
In time, our founder passed the torch to a new generation, and Glass + Mirror Craft was formed in 1964.
1970’s – 1980’s: Earning Our Reputation
G+MC soon expanded its product line and capabilities to include glass fabrication with new straight line polishing and beveling machines. As a result, increased capabilities opened the door to national clientele. Our early work with custom clock manufacturer Howard Miller led to new opportunities creating custom home accessories with J.L. Hudson. In turn, this inspired the creation of a new retail brand called Clocks by Mr. Mirror featured in J.C. Penney stores throughout the country.
With a national reputation on the rise, Glass & Mirror Craft once again made the leap into the world of decorative glass.
Moving to larger facilities in Commerce Township, we transitioned from retail to wholesale customers with a national base of glaziers.
1990’s: Evolving Our Capabilities
Glass + Mirror Craft began the decade with new equipment and upgrades, including our first tempering oven, opening up a line of fully-finished safety products and glass entry door systems.
Because of these improvements, our decorative glass division was able to offer screen-printing with color match capabilities and custom patterns on all glass types.
Soon Glass + Mirror Craft became a one-stop shop providing complete engineered glass and metal systems. Moreover, we became known for outstanding customer support, providing highly-detailed specification drawings, stamped engineering plans, and component assembly services. These new products, capabilities, and services elevated Glass + Mirror Craft far above the competition to become the most complete glass fabricator in the Midwest.
2000’s: Expanding Our Reach
Increased demand required increased capacity, necessitating another move to even larger facilities. Settling in to our new 80,000sqft. facility in Wixom, we introduced new lamination capabilities. At the same time, our logistics team expanded its fleet to include multiple custom glass trucks.
In 2005, a new generation of ownership introduced Barracuda Manufacturing, providing insulated glass products for the commercial and residential markets. Consequently, we opened a sales and distribution center in New Jersey in 2007. In 2010, Cuda Architectural Metals was formed to bring custom metal fabrication in-house.
2010’s: Sharing Our Future
In 2015, our company’s leadership assembled a group of employees to craft Glass + Mirror Craft’s Vision and Mission.
In 2019, we created a new parent company to reflect still another new focus. Glass + Metal Craft today provides all the products of Glass + Mirror Craft but with a new emphasis on architectural systems. With it also came the launch of our Fulcrum Architectural Design Assist Division. Know us now for also providing our glazier partners with cutting edge canopies, entrances, guardrails, structural walls, and more.
2020 – Today: Creating Opportunity
Tightly integrated together, and supported by our Project Management Team, Glass + Metal Craft can provide a wide range of engineered glass, custom metals, and architectural systems. Our goal is singular: to make your vision come true.
