Glass + Metal Craft’s Pre-Engineered MURUS Type III Pre-Engineered Glass Structural Wall is the latest from our decades-long investment in top-drawer in-house engineering talent. Given the initial feedback from the architectural audiences today previewing it, we think it’s going to be an industry homerun.
The Murus Type III is up to a 230” tall structure wall with no horizontal seams, no point-support hardware, and no shelves. Instead, we complex architectural centerpieces the glass, either insulated or monolithic laminated, is structurally glaze the glass with silicone to glass fins that rest in place using minimal “fin boat” hardware.
The glass options are nearly endless. Customize MURUS Type III with or without low-e coatings, and add silkscreen decorations. Or frost or paint a variety of glass substrates – from low-iron to tints. However, the real game-changing element is the door “portal”. This is an ultra-slim fin-mounted header that both houses the door opening hardware as well as provides support for the transom glass that sits above the opening. The door jamb itself is minimalistic. Ordered as stainless steel or a painted cladding, it covers less than 3.5” of glass area. The end result is minimized hardware that maximizes views.
Of course, we can further customize a MURUS Type III entrance by turning it into a vestibule.
