In the heart of Grand Rapids, Michigan two of the largest buildings in the area have come to life. In one corner the new Hyatt Place Hotel, a 12 story, 160 room hotel. In the other, the 15-story Warner Building containing a 430 space parking structure. These new adjacent buildings would be constructed simultaneously with very tight deadlines. Orion Construction called on Glass Design for the Hyatt who would put their trust in us to complete the hotel. Therefore, precision and timing were very important. Glass and Metal Craft, using its glass division had to partner with two glazing contractors and coordinate exact deliveries by location, and area of work.
Glass and Metal Craft Fabrication
So what does it take for a fabricator like us to accomplish two buildings this size at the same time? The answer, a full team of experts. From our sales, fabricators to our logistics, this project used 100% of our resources. So how big are they? The Hyatt Place has over 30,000 square feet of glass and the Warner Building another 60,000 with a sum of over 90,000 square feet of glass we had our work cut out.
What’s more, these buildings have unique glass types from each other. Selected not only for their performance, but for their tints based on the final design. Glass and Metal Craft leaned on Guardian Glass to help. Their premium products, Crystal Blue SN68, and SN68 were a perfect fit for the Hyatt Place’s intended look.
