The University of Texas in Dallas recently updated campus with a new bio engineering building. This multistory facility was designed serve as a research and educational space. At the center of the building lives a multi story staircase that would be our project.
Because of the type of building a lot tight requirements were set. For our part, we had to keep in mind durability and maintenance. We took on the project to supply all of the glass and metal for the staircase and open area guardrails. Additionally, this design required us to have led lighting on the bottom of our handrails. Thus, our glass and metal guardrail had to be 100% custom.
Our design team at Fulcrum met with our Metals division to discuss and plan the best approach to add lighting to the system. As a result, custom machined pockets and chase-ways were added. Whats more, the system needed to be installed on site with ease. We developed a easy to follow kit like system for our customer in the process. Presently, the stair case at the University of Texas in Dallas welcomes patrons day and night with style.
Surely, he end result proves that our custom metals department, Cuda can tackle any task. Lastly, combined with our engineering and all in house fabrication, Glass and Metal Craft was able to provide a single source for this project.
