Glazier: Glass Solutions, Inc.
Teaming with glazier Glass Solutions Inc., Glass + Mirror Craft delivered more than 4,000 sq. ft. of point-supported insulated glass structural walls surrounding two sides of 500 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
The design is based on our MURUS Pre-Engineered Structural Wall systems. While the architect called primarily for off-the-shelf connecting hardware, G+MC drew on the MURUS portfolio to suggest, design, and deliver custom fabricated stainless steel brackets to tie together upper and lower glass fins supporting the walls. The walls were fabricated as 16 x 16 ft. sections of glass façade using 3/8 outward, ¼ inward Guardian SunGuard® glass.
G+MC also designed and delivered custom fabricated stainless steel portals to support four building entrances within the structural walls – one featuring a glass vestibule and three with louvers – and all stainless steel cladding.
