Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily inbound and outbound logistics operations within a glass fabrication facility. This role ensures accurate material handling, safe movement of glass products, timely shipments, and effective coordination between production, logistics, and transportation teams. The Team Lead provides hands-on leadership, enforces safety standards, and drives continuous improvement in warehouse efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Operations
- Lead and coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities for raw glass, fabricated products, and related materials to be loaded on trucks
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and production requirements
- Ensure outgoing shipments are accurate, properly packaged, labeled, and secured for safe transport
- Schedule and coordinate carriers, delivery windows, and dock assignments
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and mentor shipping and receiving associates
- Assign work, monitor productivity, and ensure coverage for all shifts
- Enforce company’s 4-non negotiables: Attendance, Safety, Attitude, Quality. In addition, push G+MC culture by setting performance expectations.
- Provide coaching, corrective action, and performance feedback as needed
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict safety procedures for handling glass, racks, crates, and heavy materials
- Ensure proper use of PPE, forklifts, cranes, and material-handling equipment
- Maintain OSHA compliance and support safety audits and incident investigations
Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/WMS systems
- Oversee staging, storage, and rack organization to prevent damage and delays
- Ensure all shipping documents (BOLs, packing lists, manifests) are accurate and complete
Cross-Department Coordination
- Work closely with Production, Quality, and Customer Service teams to meet delivery schedules
- Communicate delays, shortages, or quality concerns proactively
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce damage, rework, and shipping errors
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of shipping and receiving experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- 1+ years in a lead or supervisory role
- Experience handling fragile or heavy materials (glass)
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices
Preferred
- Experience in glass fabrication or building materials industry
- Familiarity with A-frames, glass racks, crates, and oversized loads
- ERP/WMS experience (e.g.,Fenevision)
- Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, inventory systems)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and temperature variations
