Glazier: Madison Heights Glass
Madison Heights Glass called upon our glass division Glass + Mirror Craft to take on a new challenge. We were asked to complete the new South tower and expansion for the Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
This project was one of the first of a new wave in construction and logistics. We were going to make our glass for a unitized wall system. These systems create high efficiency and accuracy when installation begins. Basically, we would provide all of the glass units to MHG’s shop and they would pre-install them into pre-made larger wall section.
However, the largest challenge was that Glass + Mirror Craft would fabricate a large quantity of vision and spandrel units. They needed to be made in a specific order, and delivered on site at the right time. Because of this, our logistics team and production team had to carefully plan out and adjust to deliver these units as needed.
What’s more, is that there were a few different colors and and styles of units. As seen by the photos, the Architect had a clear vision for the final look of the building. We had to color match the desired specs for the spandrel units. This added another level of complexity when crating and racking out glass.
In the end, the result was exactly as desired. We were able to provide all the units for the Beaumont Hospital Farmington Hills on time for the project without delays.
