Insulated Glass Structure Wall
The Insulated glass structure wall installed at recently completed Fulton State Hospital was both a fun and tough. The Architect’s design called out for high performance heavy coated glass. We decided to use Guardian SunGuard SNX62/27 on half inch thick glass for its main entrance façade.
However, this posed a new challenge as Glass + Metal Craft became the first fabricator to ever temper this coated product. Basically, this glass thickness and coating had never been produced or tempered before. Guardian and Glass and Metal Craft had to team up and run a series of tests before we could make the final pieces for the job. As a result, we had to create a whole new procedure and standards for this glass. Our production team and engineers put their heads together and created a solution.
Additionally, this heavy coated glass was used as the exterior layer this point supported wall system, requiring insulated hole spacers and heat soak testing of the units. Glass + Metal Craft was happy to take on this challenge by partnering with Sadev USA to ultimately provide a new game changing product that could be used for future applications.
