JDavis Architects specified the guardrail for the main stairway defining the entrance of the Woodbury Apartments in Baltimore Maryland, and glazier Emmitsburg Glass Company in Emmitsburg, Maryland, selected Glass+Metal Craft to deliver the glass and hardware.
Upon review of the specified mounting system, G+MC drew on its family of proprietary OBEX™ Engineered Glass & Metal Guardrail Architectural Systems to suggest an alternative proven mounting approach that would ease installation and facilitate long-term maintenance.
G+MC fabricated the guardrail from ¼-on-¼ inch laminated low-iron glass, including CNC machined holes for mounting to demanding tolerances. G+MC then helped design the brushed bronze handrails, and managed the delivery to flow installation.
The availability of the pre-engineered OBEX system kept the installation on-time and within budget, despite the transition within the project schedule to the more user-friendly mounting system.
