Glazier: Strong Tower Construction (formerly Koch Corporation)
The vision was to add a decorative guardrail to add distinctive color and crisp lines to the main lobby staircase and open balcony of the UP Health System Marquette Hospital in Marquette, Michigan.
Glazier Koch Corporation selected Glass+Metal Craft for our in-house design and engineering experience, and for G+MC’s family of OBEX™ glass and metal guardrail systems that provided a cost-effective starting point for a handrail design and selection of mounting hardware.
Under the guidance of our Project management Team, G+MC’s Fulcrum Architectural Assist Division began by vetting the project specification to ensure fabrication metrics met with field requirements, and that all parties understood code requirements.
Project Management then oversaw the company’s Glass+Mirror Craft Division and, together, researched the primary visual elements of the installation space to develop and print samples of variant guardrails, ultimately producing what was deemed by all parties to be the best outcome – a stunning satin blue back-painted laminated glass.
Project management and Fulcrum engineers then designed a square handrail based on elements of G+MC’s family of OBEX pre-engineered guardrail hardware, which was then manufactured in-house by G+MC’s Cuda Metals Division.
