The Wharf is a world-class, mixed-use waterfront community in the District of Columbia’s Southwest Waterfront. SmithGroup, the lead architectural firm in charge of this project and Service Glass Industries, a premier glazier contractor, leaned on Glass + Metal Craft’s design and engineering team to help with parts of this ambitious project.
This exciting new urban waterfront project combines residential, office, hotel, retail, cultural, marina, and public uses including waterfront parks, promenades, piers, and docks. Also two new hotels. The first being Canopy by Hilton, the first in North America, and the second a Hyatt House. These features anchor the gateway of a three-acre public park.
Naturally, anything less than perfection would not suffice. So we needed to use all of our in house divisions to do take on this project. First, Glass + Metal Craft, our engineering division designed the best solution. Then, Glass + Mirror Craft and Cuda Metals started fabrication from that design. G+MC delivered a perfectly engineered, coated, laminated, glass structure wall system with a beautiful glass canopy to welcome patrons to its doors.
