I am often asked during the kick-off meet-and-greet meetings with architects the same question: “What are you best at?”
I could say pre-engineered architectural systems, or custom systems, or even large scale IG projects.
But there’s an overriding value we provide that resonates with all our architect and glazier partners. We simplify the complex.
When asked to design a custom system, we fully engineer all component. Then deliver it with stamped drawings. But we don’t over-engineer it. Instead, we innovate so that it’s easier to install and maintain. Beauty and functionality that lasts.
The massive new glass-and-metal canopy that’s part of Salem Hospital’s $245 million expansion of its Mass General Bingham campus is a latest example.
Salem Glass Company is one of the northeast’s premier glazing contractors. Thankfully, they selected us to fabricate the laminated, screen-printed structure that protects the new main patient entrance.
To minimize complexity — yet surpass the expectations of architects H|AI Architecture and Shepley Bulfinch — we integrated our proprietary HAMO metal fittings and custom glass cross beams into the design.
Our design our HAMO fittings specifically to simplify installation. We make them right here in North America. The glass cross beams are a highly engineered concept that eliminates the need for excessive metal. It also further brightens the entrance area. Both act to simplify and maintain installation flow.
We also source Guardian Glass — a strategic partner of Glass + Metal Craft — so that we could ensure our fabricated product would be delivered on time from a local resource.
With installation now complete, the glass canopy sprawls out as a beautiful statement piece for the hospital. But take a closer look at its design simplicity, and it also acts as a statement piece for how we add value.
