I’m all about what’s next: more glass and less metal. Increasingly sophisticated point supported structural walls. Off-the-shelf architectural system solutions.
But let’s not forget that you can also make a statement on what’s underfoot.
Literally.
Glass + Metal Craft is well known for its floating glass canopies and perfectly flat glass facades. But you should also know us for our highly engineered glass flooring and stair treads.
One such project that comes to mind is the stunning catwalk and cascading staircases that flow into the central atrium to make a signature statement for the American Public University in Charles Town, West Virginia.
Here we met considerable engineering challenges and design nuances. Our in-house Fulcrum Architectural Design Assist Division took on the project for Glazier Emmitsburg Glass out of Emmitsburg, Maryland.
We engineered and fabricated the catwalk, walkway, and curved stairway, incorporating 4-ply laminated treads with frosted interlayers. We also added a slip resistant ceramic frit patterns on the surface.
Our Cuda Metals Division concurrently designed and fabricated all of the custom painted steel posts, handrails, and the nearly invisible hardware that cradles the G+MC produced railing glass.
Our project management team followed the project from the vetting of the spec through installation, providing stamped drawings and kitting the delivery to flow installation – what we like to refer to as giving our customer a “success package”. The kind of design, delivery, and support on which Glass + Metal Craft builds its reputation.
To be known in this industry you need an upward outlook … but you also need a strong base. And when the base is glass, think of G+MC.
