Glass + Metal Craft has built a national reputation over the past decade for our innovative Pre-Engineered Architectural Systems. Still, we will never abandon our roots – the bedrock of our business for more than four decades is our stunning applications of insulated glass.
A latest example is Indiana Tech’s Zollner Engineering Building in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A beautiful $21.5 million renovation featuring thousands of square feet of IG facades.
The vision of Elevatus Architecture was to connect new gathering spaces, collaboration areas, and classroom and labs with the outside environment. Maximize interior light, and create a feeling of “room for thought.”
We teamed with glaziers Forman Glass, from Galesburg, Michigan, and O’Neil’s Glass, headquartered in Fort Wayne. G+MC fabricated the IGs using U.S. manufactured glass from Guardian Industries.
The team chose their Super Neutral Reflective (SNR) 43 for the East and West facades of the venue – a product with a light silver blue tint. They then choose their Super Neutral (SN) 68 on the North and South facades – featuring a light green tint. The marriage of the two colors, and the super-flat surfaces we were able to fabricate using our state-of-the-art equipment and quality processes, present a bold exclamation point to the handsome expansion.
As far as tech …
Both glass products are top drawer and ensure the comfort of students and faculty. Both let the sun shine bright throughout the facility, while offering thousands of dollars in potential energy savings. Add to that LEED credits.
It’s great fun to be involved in such a project. I see it as setting an environment that will percolate innovations from within the facility for years to come.
Glass + Metal Craft is not taking our foot off the pedal on leading the industry in new designs and approaches to architecture systems. But neither will we ever abandon our roots. Look to us for thought leadership and superior quality for your next insulated glass requirement.
