What do Detroit Pistons Dennis Rodman, Isaiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups and Glass and Metal Craft have in common? All are proud contributors to the legacy of the basketball organization.
Certainly, none of the G+MC team members can do monster dunks or hit NBA threes. However, our talented team recently completed work on the glass structures within the Pistons new Performance Center (PPC). It’s where the Detroit Pistons now train, heal, and develop winning strategies.
G+MC teamed with glazing partner Universal to bring Rosetti’s architectural vision to life. First, we chose Guardian’s SuperNeutral 68 on UltraClear low-iron glass to create a stunning exterior glass façade.
Then, we combined Guardian’s UltraClear glass with custom and off-the-shelf hardware to design, engineer, and fabricate the elaborate vestibule.
Within, G+MC used Guardian glass and custom black hardware to bring to life the architect’s vision of a light-filled, upbeat atmosphere where Pistons staff and visitors alike can congregate, communicate ,and collaborate.
Most importantly, G+MC delivered the PPC project on-time and on-budget despite third-party delays. G+MC’s engineering and project management teams worked closely with Universal to overcome field conditions that differed from the original scope.
Three NBA championships, numerous memorable moments, and a “we work harder” attitude. The Detroit Pistons left an indelible mark on the people of Southeast Michigan. Using the same work ethic, G+MC delivered key elements of the new Detroit Pistons Performance Center that will stand for many NBA seasons to come.
On your next visit to Motown, be sure to stop by and see this amazing new facility for yourself. It’s worth the visit! And you also get to bellow out with the surrounding crowd: D-E-T-R-O-I-T B-A-S-K-E-T-B-A-L-L!
