What do Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Dennis Rodman, Isaiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups and Glass and Metal Craft have in common? All are proud contributors to the legacy of the Pistons organization in Detroit.
While none (well most) of the G+MC team members can do monster dunks, hit NBA 3’s or block shots from the likes of Lebron James – our talented group recently completed work on the glass structures within the Pistons Performance Center (PPC), where the Pistons train, heal and develop winning strategies.
Working with glazing partner Universal to bring Rosetti’s architectural vision to life, G+MC utilized Guardian’s SuperNeutral 68 on UltraClear low-iron glass to create the stunning exterior façade glass.
At the main entrance, G+MC was asked to combine Guardian’s UltraClear glass with custom and off-the-shelf hardware to design, engineer and fabricate the elaborate vestibule and entrance doors that open into the inner sanctum of the Pistons’ Management Offices.
On the interior, G+MC again used Guardian glass and custom black hardware to bring to life the architect’s vision of a light-filled, modern and upbeat area where Pistons staff and visitors alike can congregate, communicate and collaborate.
Best of all, the PPC project – which like so many others had hard deadlines – was delivered on-time and on-budget despite project delays and the need for the G+MC engineering and project management team to work with Universal to overcome field conditions that, in typical fashion, differed from the original scope.
Three NBA championships, numerous memorable moments, and a “we work harder” attitude – the Detroit Pistons have left an indelible mark on the people of Southeast Michigan. Using the same work ethic, the mark that G+MC has left on the new Pistons Performance Center will stand for many NBA seasons to come!
